Homework

A weekly homework folder will be sent home each Monday. The homework is for an entire week. Included in the homework folder will be the following homework assignments for them to practice at home. 

1. The students will receive math facts to practice. They will have a quiz on Friday and if they are proficient on their quiz they will get the next set of math facts to practice, if not they will continue to practice the current facts. 
2. Each week your child will be sent home with 2 UFLI passages. UFLI is the phonics program we use to help your child become a better reader. The 2 passages will have a phonics pattern that the students will have worked on in class. They need to practice reading each passage and draw a picture that matches what they read. This will help them with their comprehension of what they read. Students will have a spelling test on Fridays. The words on the test will have the same patterns as words from their UFLI passages. Students will not be sent home with the exact list of words that will be on their test. I will put the phonics patterns on our weekly newsletter so that you know what your child is working on. It is important that students learn the phonics patterns and not just memorize the words.
